THE PEOPLE of Suu Moli village in the Ulawa/ Ugi constituency will soon have good clean water after more than ten years.

This was made possible by the Member of Parliament for Ulawa/ Ugi constituency, Honourable William Bradford Marau and his constituency office with assistance from RWASH.

During his recent constituency tour to Ulawa Island, MP Marau assured the people of Suu Moli village that the project was in its second phase.

“The first phase of the Suu Moli borehole project has now been complete, which is the drilling of four bore holes by the SolDrill Company in March this year.

“Now we are into the second phase of the project which is the making of the Bill of Quantities of the materials needed for the project which was done two weeks ago by engineers from RWASH,” Hon Marau says.

Hon Marau also adds that after this, they will ship the materials for the project so that work can be carried out so that people can have water as soon as possible.

Many of the elders of Suu Moli village said that they are very thankful and happy that Hon Marau has understood their suffering and has decided to help them solve their problem.

One of the elders, Mr Clement Teona says that they have tried seeking assistance from their past MPs but all they got was empty promises.

“We the elders of Suu Moli village have tried our former members of parliament to assist us in our water problem but we never get any help from them,” he says.

Many women too also conveyed their joy at what their member of parliament has done for them.

The Suu Moli borehole project which is one of the constituency’s major project once complete will not only benefit the people of Suu Moli but will benefit the whole island of Ulawa because there too they have a wharf plus a new market house which is also funded by the constituency.
