THE YOUTH@WORK programme under the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) has completed its six months internship programme phase-nine in a fitting graduation yesterday.
The occasion is marked as special time of the year for the 247 graduates who have successful completed their programmes from 300 young people recruited.
The youth representatives, Hynick Junior Karani, in his remarks, highlights that the closing starts the continuing development for young people in improving quality of life as youth citizens for Honiara communities.
He also uttered that the young people’s successful gain from the programme paves new life time satisfaction and endurance which is meaningful and effective.
To the graduates, Karani said that they may never be perfect, but they can be successful through working hard.
On the internship achievements, Karani on behalf of the graduates, applaud the mentors and leaders of Y@W for placing the development of youth population especially in Honiara City as significant priority.
This programme deserves its recognition at the highest level in line with the National Government Policy development priorities which stipulated in national youth policy and urban youth policy, he adds.
British High Commissioner, His Excellency Chris Trott encourages the graduating young people that their choice through this programme expresses their commitment to work for a better future.
Mr Trott hopes they will stand up to some problems afflicting the modern world.
HE Trott also uttered that the experience, skills and confidence these young people have acquired will stand them in good stead as they head into the world of employment.
With that, Mr Trott commends and congratulates the trainers, teachers, mentors and offices supporting the programme on the quality of support they provide.
