A NON-CHARITABLE organisation, Hearts of Hope, visited Maoro community in central Malaita over the weekend.
During the Sunday-visit, coordinator of Hearts of Hope, Mrs Janet Justus Aihari, said it is a very special occasion that the organisation has arranged for the widows and widowers of Maoro community.
She said, “We done this kind of programme for the few years now and this programme is the first programme for this year.
“We depend on fundraisings and support from business houses and individuals that recognise the work of the organisation especially for the orphans and widows.
The organisation towards the end of last year donated clothing to sick patients of Kiluufi hospital, and some administration materials also.
But most programmes were held in the local communities in the central part of Malaita province.
The programme last Sunday gathered 27 widows and widowers, who received gifts from the organisation with tears and joy, Mrs Aihari said.
She thanks Island Clothing for donating a bale of blankets and the support of the organisation for providing soap, rice and other household needs to the widows and widowers.
