ANGLICAN CHURCH of Melanesia’s (ACOM) proposed University has offered land for the Tina Hydro project.
Coordinator of the Planned John Coleridge Patterson University, Fr Philemon Akao, said ACOM Trust Board agrees to offer 50 metres from the public road into the University area to the Tina Hydro Project for the setting up of two transmission lines to the city.
Fr Akao said the Church is waiting for the evaluation of the area before negotiating for payment, which he says will also help in the establishment of the University.
He said an infrastructure committee appointed by the University taskforce is responsible for the planning and putting initial infrastructure on the University land.
He said the Infrastructure committee is working on formulating a proposal for the Melanesian Mission Trust Board in New Zealand to provide funds to start the groundwork.
Fr Akao pointed out that the outcome of the agreement with Tina Hydro Project and result of proposal to Melanesian Mission Trust Board, are plans ACOM is looking forward to, before ground work will begin for the establishment of the University.
He furthers that if those plans are going to be achieved this year then it is likely that ground work will begin by 2017.
The university will have six faculties beginning with the School of Theology and faculty of Education and Humanities.
