Gizo NDMO to conduct ERT training

THE NATIONAL Disaster Management Office through the Provincial Disaster Management Office will be commencing an Emergency Response Team training to be held at the Gizo Women’s Center tomorrow.

In a statement from the NDMO office in Gizo, the purpose of the ERT training is to teach key personals to be able to undertake and manage basic requirements of disaster response in their area.

“It will begin with participants from various important sectors from the province, including the Ministry of Health, Police, and Agriculture with various Non-Government Organisations like the Solomon Islands Red Cross in Gizo.

The facilitator of the ERT training, George Gulu said the training encompasses the introduction of disaster management affiliated towards the various provincial sectors and the response towards their field of service

“The training was supposed to be held on Wednesday1 to the 3 June 2016.

“Due to the limited turn out, and with the commitment of the participants towards other priorities, it was postponed for Tuesday the 7 of June 2016.

Meanwhile, the statement states that disaster is every bodies business.
