FISHERIES MINISTER and MP for West Are’Are Hon John Maneniaru has told parliament that this country needs the brains of its 50 MPs to move this country’s socio-economic development and growth.

Hon Maneniaru said whilst much has been said about what should be done about policies and what systems should be in place, there is need to unite all 50 MPs in the political leadership of this country.

He said a lot has been said and shared in parliament on how government systems should be managed and what policies should be created and implemented.

Hon Maneniaru said the ideas of introducing new policies and what should be done is always the normal practice of parliament discussions every now and then but there is nothing done to address those important issues and ideas raised.

He said they (MPs) can come up with good policy ideas but it will never materialise if they cannot unite the 50 brains in the house to implement and push these ideas forward for the good of the people and the country.

Adding, government systems can only work best if all the 50 brains of parliament unite to work together.

“We can do better for our people only if we put all our 50 brains together,” Hon Maneniaru said.

He said political stability is very important in addressing and bringing about those great policy ideas and improve those government systems that will enable efficient, effective, productive and positive growth within the economy.

The Fisheries Minister added that being in the Opposition bench for four years in the last house he sees nothing can be done if MPs sit back in their respective groups or party alliance only to criticise and never work together for national interests but their own interests.

“Enough talking and lets take action,” Hon Maneniaru added.

He told Parliament that it is enough to continue to cause political instability.

He said the solution to addressing the country’s problems is simply to unite all 50 MPs’ brains for the good of this country.

Adding, any ruling government cannot do anything for the country if there is continuous instability.

“Where MPs go around signing papers to try and cause instability, resulting in the ruling government and especially the PM to focus on trying to control his MPs than to lead to ensure implementation of government policies and focus on national issues,” Hon Maneniaru added.
