THE SOLOMON Islands National teachers Association (SINTA) has condemned the burning of the Mbokonavera School staff office and computer lab yesterday.
SINTA described the action as disrespectful to students’ welfare and education in the country.
SINTA’s Industrial relations officer, Stanley Taungenga informed this paper yesterday that the principal was quickly made aware of the incident and called the fire service as the fire began to raze the building.
However, he said the first fire truck which arrived at the scene could do nothing as its tank was empty.
Mr Taungenga said suspects broke into the school gate early in the morning.
He said such anti-social behavior will only diminish students learning and lower the morale of the teachers.
The Fire service refused to comment on the matter when the paper contacted the Police department yesterday.
