FOR YOU Mum women expo is currently underway, a day designed as special for every mother in Honiara, throughout this week, at the National Auditorium.

The Honiara Council of Women is the leading organisation in setting aside the special day for every woman to mark the upcoming Mother’s Day.

The event was set with an aim to provide opportunity for mothers as well as children and fathers to look for special gifts while women can go on with selling their products.

President for Honiara Council of Women, Martha Alacky stressed the event is special as it creates opportunities for women to create networking and act together.

She continues to say, “last year similar activities were created by providing mothers in hair styles to make them look special while celebrating mother’s event.

“This year, Council of women were very happy to host the activity again but different approach from last year which is more on selling of products, gifts packaging and displaying of artifacts good for mother’s day.”

Mrs Alacky also encourages fathers, daughters and sons to come out and find special gifts for their mothers as this day is fast approaching.

Meanwhile since the event is open for the public, Mrs Alacky calls on every woman in Honiara to come out and be part of the occasion.

That is to see what women can do or offer and then utilise the look-and-learn back in their community and families as well, she adds.

The event is also supported by Australia Office through Direct Aid programme (DAP) with tables and chairs.
