UNDISCIPLINED ACTIONS by police is not tolerated within the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) says Assistant Police Commissioner, Jackson Balaga.
Speaking at a public forum at Gizo yesterday, Mr Balaga encouraged the public to report police officers involved in unlawful behaviour.
“This is time we stand up, we must not fear to report undisciplined police officers.
“Police officers should not drink in public places, or behave in unlawful manner because they are custodians and enforcers of the law.
“If you see a police officer drink in public, or commit unlawful behaviour, I encourage you to report the officer.
“Write to the Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner or your Police Provincial Commander,” Mr Balaga said.
Mr Balaga said public can report undisciplined police officers to professional standards and internal investigations unit, an internal department within the force that oversea actions, conducts of the police force.
Mr Balaga issued this advice after a comment by a member of the public at Gizo slammed Gizo police officers for having involved in public drinking and frequenting night clubs.
He claimed some reported criminal cases are filed up in police stations, and have never heard before the courts.
The man claimed Gizo Police are not performing according to public expectation.
