PRO CHANCELLOR of the Solomon Island National University (SINU) has wished the graduants of the university well as they depart the institution.

Sir John Baptist Muria urged them to be good ambassadors of the University and show to others what they had learned during their time at SINU.

“Your past years of study were without doubt overwhelmed by challenges, setbacks, frustration and disappointments.

“There might have been times when you wondered if you would make it to this stage.

“Graduates, the fact that you are here demonstrate your incredible resilience, resolve and fortitude to rise above all the difficulties that lay in your way.

“Your unwavering determination, dedication and commitment to succeed have carried you through,” he said.

Sir Muria reminded the graduates on the theme for this year’s Graduation, “Your future, Our Commitment”, which he said is a very profound statement.

“Because in order for you to have a secure future, you and the University will have to take responsibility,” he stated.

Sir Muria said that SINU in its endeavor will play its part in creating your future through higher learning and trainings that it offers.

“Whatever choice you take, I want to remind you of the important role that you can play as Graduates of SINU.

“You are an ambassador and alumnus of SINU, therefore it is critical that you exercise care, show compassion, demonstrate boldness and courage, and be moral and ethical in your undertakings.

“As you scale and ponder the heights of your success, it is important that you embrace and hold fast to the values and virtues of honesty, integrity, humility and empathy.

“My other appeal to you is not to cease to be a decent human being who is truly concerned about and with the welfare and wellbeing of others and treat others with dignity and respect regardless.

“I urge you to inspire and show example to many others in your community through your own example, actions or words,” the Chancellor said.
