GIZO public are now relieved after authorities announced the removal of the last Asbestos remains from the burnt down Hospital yesterday.
Chairman of the task force Adrian Tony told Island Sun yesterday said the situation has been remedied with final assessments confirming that the area is now asbestos-free.
“The assessment has already been completed and all the urgent issues have been addressed by the taskforce of the old the old burn hospital in Gizo.
“The urgent sewerages and electricity are now connected into the area and also the water supply system.
“We are yet to receive the final result from the Ministry of Infrastructure Development in Gizo to seal off the area and conduct the final assessments.
“We are now purchase electrical pumps for the sewerage and water supply systems for the old burnt down hospital in Gizo,” said Mr Tony.
However, despite the clearance of Asbestos, ublic are still being urged to remain clear of the area as it is still littered with waste materials, fibres and debris which may still pose as risky.
He says that the area is still being cordoned off from public with staff looking after the premises.
