THE WESTERN Province Education Office says it having talks with leaders of the Christian Fellowship Church (CFC) on efforts to re-open its schools in Western Province.
In an interview yesterday, Western Province Chief Education Officer (CEO), Hopeful Piosasa said his office has since been reaching out to the leaders of the fellowship church to find out when these schools will resume classes.
Mr Piosasa exclusively told this paper that more than 2,000 students from 16 schools under the church’s education authority have been left out from the system for two years now, after the head of the Church has passed on, His Grace, the late Reverend Sir Ikan Rove in early June, 2014.
“This office continues to hold dialogue with them, last year we have discussion with the church’s education secretary and other leaders, and this year in April, our Principal Inspector has also met with some leaders of the church.
“We also have discussion with the legal advisor of the church, to discuss on this issue and the response was positive.
“They have told us that all schools will resume classes but yet to give clear dates, but I hope they will start soon by sometimes January next year.
“Even the Ministry of Education is cautiously approaching them and encourages them to start classes. The here issue remains unclear as the church is going through a transition of a new leader after the late Reverend Sir Ikan passed on,” Mr Piosasa said.
He said 16 schools under the church are still non operational, which includes 11 primary schools and five secondary schools spanning across Western Province.
