THE NATIONAL youth congress has implemented a new project that is aimed at addressing the pressing issues facing youths in the country.
Sustainable tourism agents in rural societies (STARS) project enables the NYC to connect to youths in the country and provide employment opportunities for them.
General Secretary for NYC says the network was established to mould young people to become experts in employable areas related to community-based tourism, project management and youth work.
The project is a best-design practice for sustainable tourism and community development, he adds.
The set of activities and programmes of the project is a step forward for NYC under its mandate to assist youths in the Solomon Islands, he adds.
The first partnership agreement was signed in 2014 enabling NYC to access the following programmes; European Volunteer Service, Job Shadowing and exchange programme for students and lectures.
It was a result of the previous islander youth network project in 2012-2013 that linked 13 European islands as NYC is part of it to widen its collaboration with six countries from five continents.
