ALL MALAITANS working and living in Honiara are kindly invited to attend a special meeting this Sunday 1pm at the Honiara High School.

The meeting was called by concerned Malaitans who are members of the “National Malaitans” Facebook group after the Premier of Malaita Province, Hon Peter Ramohia posted a call on the National Malaitan Facebook group page.

The Premier called on every Malaitan to help the province build the new proposed Malaita provincial Assembly Chamber.

Premier Ramohia uploaded the architectural plan of the $14.4m complex and said the national Government is expected to be the major donor, but his province welcomes any assistance from other donors, Malaita business houses and Malaitans.

“This is the seat of your provincial government. This is the building that will unite all Malaitans,” Premier Ramohia posted.

“Malaitans, this is your Chamber so help your provincial government to build it.

“Help us and let us build it together,” the Premier plead.

Hundreds of concern Malaitans commenting on social media fully support the call and challenged each other to organise themselves and be part of this huge project.

Some said it’s time Malaitans help themselves rather than waiting for the provincial government and the national government.

After discussing the issue, they decided to organise the meeting this Sunday for all Honiara Malaitans.

One of the organisers Rose Abana called on all Malaitans to contribute towards the good cause.

“I’m appealing to all Malaitans in Honiara to attend this very important meeting,” Ms Abana said.

Confirming the meeting, Ishmael Nori one of those convening the meeting invited every Malaitan to attend.

“Following our discussion under a post by the Premier Hon Peter Ramohia and as per our overwhelming support to response to support our home province – I hereby call on everyone to attend a meeting this Sunday 22nd at HONIARA HIGH SCHOOL, starting 1 pm,” Nori posted on Facebook.

“At the meeting we will appoint a working committee to work closely with the Malaita Provincial Executive in driving our discussed initiative.

“Malaitans, let’s see who truly commits to advance our plan by attending the meeting,” he added.

He also thanked the Principal of Honiara High School for allowing the venue and hope many Malaitans will turn up for the meeting.

The meeting starts at 1pm this Sunday 22 May 2016 and the Hon Premier of Malaita Province, Hon Peter Ramohia will provide explanations about the project and the province’s plan.

The convening group also call on Malaitan businessmen to provide drinks, especially water for participants of this meeting this Sunday.
