AUKI MAIN market, after fours years, had electricity resumed to its premises yesterday from Solomon Power Company (SIEA).
The power supply had been disconnected since 2013.
Caretaker market manager, Ms Betty Kwanairara said over the last three years the market itself had an outstanding bill of $130,942.20 with the Solomon Power Company.
“I thank the Malaita provincial government for clearing up the outstanding bill and the power supply resume to its normal services.”
She also added that “during the past years when the market compound has gone without lights our security officers have faces difficulties when looking after the market facilities.
“But today we are proud of our Provincial government for addressing this issue as one of its priorities in the province.”
Ms Kwanairara also said that Solomon Water will reconnect their pipings after it was also disconnected due to non-payment of bills.
“All bills from Solomon Power and Solomon Water are already been paid,” Ms Kwanairara said.
