THE SOLOMON Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) has official launched the Honiara Domestic Port road upgrading at the National Domestic Port yesterday.
The upgrading of the Honiara Domestic Port road is part of the SIPA’s reform to provide safety, cleanliness and security for the indigenous people accessing the vicinity.
The official guests are; Honourable Minister for Infrastructure and Development (MID) Jimmy Lusibaea, SIPA CEO Collin Yow , Honiara City Clerk Charles Kelly, Chairman Government Caucus Jackson Fiulaua and Permanent Secretary Henry Murray (MID).
Minister Jimmy Lusibaea, in his official remarks, highlights that SIPA’s reform to transform the domestic port will benefit indigenous people as it is the main hub of inter-island transportation in the nation.
Minister Lusibaea also adds that the domestic port is now safe, clean and secure for people now that the road is tarred and seal.
Meanwhile, with SIPA’s reform to upgrade the domestic wharf, Hon Lusibaea expressed that he is proud of SIPA’s achievement in cleaning up the surrounding area and fixing the road.
“I’m very proud to be here with you, sharing with you SIPA’s achievement in a short space of time,” Minister Lusibaea said.
Colin Yow, in his opening address, applauds and commends the responsible Minister and Government Caucus Representative for having the vision which was now fulfilled.
The future plans coming up for the domestic port upgrading this year includes; 24-hour lighting of the whole port, phase of the port reforms and upgrading the existing jetties.
