MINISTRY OF Agriculture and Livestock (MAL), through its various extensions, needs to activate agriculture sectors in the country.

John Safanamae made this call, saying MAL’s output in terms of agriculture in the country is poor.

He said there are lots of farmers in the country who are really in desperate need to be assisted with their agricultural activities.

“There are lots of cocoa farmers, copra farmers, fish farmers and many more who lack support with the activities they carry out.

“Our farmers in the country are very proactive. They can sustain whatever agricultural activities they engaged whether commercial or subsistence activities without any assistance.

“They had the passion for the work, willing beyond willingness to do the work and even they have the resources, everything was already there. So MAL, what types of farmers you’ll consider providing assistances to them?” Mr Safanamae queried.

He stressed that it is time to work and assist the farmers in the country.

Safanamae stated that MAL should also understand that the biggest contribution to our economy comes from agriculture products.

However, Mr Safanamae

He also urged MAL not to deal only with bigger agricultural projects in the country but also to prioritise small scale agricultures to grow in the country.

He reiterated that “as a responsible ministry you need to activate so that it can help improve agriculture sector in the country”.
